My husband wears “tall” sizes-can this pattern be easily adjusted for a longer torso? I’m a relatively novice seamstress-are the pieces in simple shapes to add length easily? Thanks!
Yes! The Newcastle is very easy to lengthen. There are “Lengthen or Shorten Here” lines on each pattern piece that will need lengthening. I have written a tutorial for doing this to the Jedediah Pants here: https://threadtheoryblog.wordpress.com/2013/08/02/showing-off-my-pattern-testers-and-a-tutorial-lengthening-or-shortening-a-pattern-piece/ It is the same concept for the Newcastle Cardigan. You will need to lengthen the Cardigan Front, Cardigan Back, Button Placket and Facing pieces. The arms for this pattern are already pretty long so measure the pattern piece and compare it to your husbands arm length before lengthening them…they might already be fine! Good luck!
I am so excited to have found you. I sew for myself and my kids and my husband is always sad that there is nothing for him. He will especially love this cardigan! Off to look at all the patterns to decide what to buy first! Thanks for the awesome patterns.
