Sweater Weather

Here’s a sneak peek at our upcoming pattern! The first full sample of the garment came hot off the machine last night and Matt has been snuggled up in it to combat the snowy weather ever since!

I know these pictures aren’t all that sneaky but I’ll at least refrain from posting full shots of the garment until the pattern release.

Right now I am focussed on walking the fine line between ‘fun to sew’ and ‘high end finishes’. This sample was sewn using a lot of twill tape to finish the interior of the garment. The next sample will use a lining to accomplish the same effect. There are many advantages and disadvantages of each approach (indeed, listing them has been keeping me up at night more than my baby currently is!).

What camp are you in? Linings or seam finishes?

  1. New pattern looks fantastic, can’t wait for its release, I think I would go seam finishes as don’t really need the thick layers in England.

  2. Nice! I think I am more a grey rather than black or white person. I like both, it really depends on the fabric, purpose, my mood, the pattern or most importantly the recipient. One thing I am sure of is if it’s not going to be lined I like a nice seam finish. On a knit this can be twill tape or even cover stitched top stitching.

  3. I am so excited about this! The advantage of lining is you can do it In a nice flannel for colder weather. For warmer weather taped finishes for sure!

  4. Seam finishes can elevate a garment.

  5. Hong Kong finish in a colorful print is gorgeous.

  6. Gorgeous! I think I prefer lining for wovens, but seam finishes for knit fabric. Congratulations Morgan 🙂

  7. Love the high collar! Not a fan of the pockets, as I think these kind of pockets make bellys look bigger. Is there a hood included? Hubby misses his hair for years now and hoods are essential for him. 🙂
