Thread Theory

Welcome to the new era of menswear sewing. Go ahead and create something exceptional!

Merry Christmas!

Matt and I hope you are enjoying the company of family and friends by a warm fireplace this winter!  Whatever you choose to celebrate, please accept our best wishes as we reflect upon the past year and all of the support that you have given our little menswear sewing shop.  Even after 6 years of existence, I find myself wondering daily how I ever got so lucky as to work from home, employed at doing something I find interesting and enjoyable, surrounded by a supportive world-wide community.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

I will be back on the blog in the new year with a ‘behind the scenes’ look at 2017 and a dreaming and scheming examination of the coming year.

In the meantime, why not check out #threadtheorydesigns and our Facebook community?  There have been many wonderful Christmas gifts posted as of late.

  2. I would like to thank all the Thread Theory community for wonderful sewing adventures I have enjoyed with your patterns. When I sew dress for myself, I usually sew with patterns from By hand London, but my top sewing love is menswear. I just love to sew for my Mr Darcy… and thanks to you I can! I am not so skilled to draft my own pattern, so you are irreplaceable for me. Sometimes I like ladies’ patterns from Burda magazine, but when I tried those for men, I was shocked, it wasn’t for a young tall and slim man. My boyfriend is similar body type like Matt, and when I tried to sew him trousers from Burda, they were quite baggy, I can say… and they just didn’t fit. Your patterns are the best!
I am now sewing your Newcastle cardigan (I will share some photos very soon!) and I plan to sew your waistcoat in 2018. Do you think it will go together with Jedediah pants? I am not sure if it is not something a bit different… by the way, if you are still wondering what to prepare for your sewing fans for 2018, I’d love to sew tailored jacket! Please! 😀 Or men’s trenchcoat… or you can pamper us who sew and are girls… Lazo trousers surprised me a lot! I have nevere thought such trousers will fit me!
Merry Christmas, a lot of sewing inspiration and only a few lost pins 😉

    • Yes, go for it! The Belvedere Waistcoat and the Jeds are a lovely match that Matt wears for weddings and fancy dinners. Your boyfriend will look very smart! Thanks for your input on future pattern ideas!
